Pop-Up Whimsical Village Card

Hello Crafty friends!

In this post, we’re introducing the third installment of our series featuring Spellbinders’ new June release: the Whimsical Village Collection designed by Vicky Papaioannou. It’s a pop-up card depicting a mysterious village where a black cat is hiding.

今回は、Spellbinders の6月新商品 Vicky Papaioannou さんDesign の大人気 Whimsical Village Collection にフィーチャーした作品の第3弾をご紹介します。黒猫が隠れた不思議なVillageのポップアップカードです。

For the background on the inside, dab Versa Fine Clair Summer Time, Cheerful, and Bali Blue onto an A6 rubber stamp plate, spray it with alcohol (anhydrous ethanol), place a sheet of paper on top, and run it through a die-cutting machine.

インサイドの背景は、A6の消しゴムハンコの版にVersa Fine Clair Summer Time、 Cheerful 、Bali Blueをタップして、アルコール（無水エタノール）を吹きかけ紙を上にのせ、ダイカットマシンに通します。

Place it in the Whimsical Skies 3D embossing Folder and run it through the die-cutting machine to create a swirl pattern. Roll Versa Fine Clair Sand Dune ink onto the embossed areas using a brayer.　

Apply gesso with a brush along the edges where the ink colors meet.

それを Whimsical Skies 3D embossing Folder に挟みダイカットマシーンを通して、渦巻き模様をつけます。Versa Fine Clair Sand Dune をブレイヤーで転がし、エンボス部分につける。

インクの色の境目には、Gesso を筆で塗ります。

Prepare the houses from the “Whimsical Houses Etched Dies,” the cats from the “Whimsical Village Companions Etched Dies,” and the flowers from the “Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies” in advance.

Whimsical Houses Etched Dies の家、　Whimsical Village Companions Etched Dies の猫たち、Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies の花などはあらかじめ作っておきます。

To create the pop-up mechanism,

make a long, narrow box measuring 1 inch by 0.5 inches and cut slits in it as shown in the photo.

Glue each one to the background of the base card at an 80-degree angle.

ポップアップのメカニズムは

1インチ×０.５インチの細長いボックスを作り、写真のように切り込みを入れます。

ベースカードの背景にそれぞれを８０度の角度で貼ります。

On top of that, align the creases and stick the pre-cut paper for the ground grass straight onto the surface.

その上にあらかじめ作っておいた地面のペーパーを折り目を合わせてまっすぐ貼ります。

仕掛けができたら、Whismical House や花、を取り付け、猫をこっそり貼ります。

For the cover, use the “Whimsical Skies 3D Embossing Folder” on a transparent sheet and stamp it with StazOn PIGMENT’s “Snow Flake” ink.

表紙は、透明なシートに Whimsical Skies 3D embossing Folder にStazOn PIGMENT Snow Flakeをつけてスタンプします。

Next, attach the base with the mechanism to the clear sheet, and glue the flowers made with the Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies along the seam. Finally, add the message made with the Whimsical Wishes Clear Stamp Set .

さらに、仕掛けを取り付けたベースカードと透明シートを貼り合わせ、つなぎ目に Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies で作った花を貼ります。最後に柵や猫などの細かな要素、 Whimsical Wishes Clear Stamp Set で作ったメッセージを貼ります。

Floral Trio Twist Pop-Up Card ☆ Alex Syberia Designs

Today, I used the Alex Syberia Designs Floral Trio Press Plate and Stencil—which I introduced the other day—to make a “Twist Pop-Up Card.” The beautiful floral designs, combined with the pop-up effect, create a sense of surprise and freshness.

Twist is designed so that when opened, it pops up at an angle.

今日は先日もご紹介した、Alex Syberia Designs　Floral Trio Press Plate とステンシルを使って Twist Pop -Up Cardを作りました。素敵な花のデザインが、ポップアップすることで驚きと新鮮さを加わえます。

Twist は、開いたときに斜めにPop-up するように角度を変えてます。

I positioned the plate on white cardstock, dabbed on Staz On PIGMENTO Piano Black ink, and pressed it firmly. After stenciling the flowers using Distress Ink in Wilted Violet and Mustard Seed, I cut out the outlines of the flowers.

ホワイトカードストックにプレートの位置を定めて、Staz On PIGMENTO Piano Black inkをタップしてベタープレスしました。花をDistress InkのWilted Violet と Mustard Seedを使ってステンシルした後、花の輪郭をカットしました。

For the background, I sprayed Distress Oxide Shaded Lilac and Mustard Seed Spray, and also added some splatter using a nozzle.

背景は、Dstress Oxide Shaded Lilac と Mustard Seed Spray をスプレ-して、ノズルでスプラッターもしました。

I applied Versa Fine Clair ink in the “Pencil Sketch” shade to a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp and then stamped it onto the card.

Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous のStampにVersa Fine Clair ink の Pencil Sketch をつけて、その上に捺しました。

I attached the mechanism to the center and mounted the base onto purple matte paper.

I added a sentiment stamp and a postage stamp.

中心に仕掛けを取り付け、ベースを紫のマット紙に貼り付けました。

センチメントや切手などを貼りました。

Whimsical Village Slim Line Card

Today, I’d like to share another card I made using the Whimsical Village Collection 　 designed by Vicky Papaioannou.

今日は、再びVicky Papaioannou さんDesign の Whimsical Village Collection を使ったもう一枚の Cardをご紹介します。

I thought this collection would make for a unique and fun card when paired with other products, so I used the “Painted Blooms” dies designed by Vicky to create a slimline card featuring the Whimsical Village Collection arranged like brushstrokes.

このコレクションは他の商品と組み合わせると、ユニークで楽しいカードになると思ったので、Vickyさんがデザインした「Painted Blooms」のダイを使って、Whimsical Village Collection を筆のようにした、スリムラインカードを作ってみました。

I sprayed Distress Spray Stain Salvaged Patina onto the background and added some yellow and red splatters. I also stamped the line art in a few places.

背景にはDistress spray Stain Salvaged patinaをシュッとスプレイしてイエローや赤のスプラッターも加えました。線画のスタンプも数か所捺してます。

From among the houses I made using the Whimsical Houses Etched Dies —which allow you to customize your designs by combining windows, roofs, doors, and other elements—I’ve selected a few that stand out for their unique and vibrant colors.

窓や屋根、ドアなど組み合わせてカスタマイズすることができるWhimsical Houses Etched Dies を使っていくつか作ったHousesの中から、ユニークで鮮やかな色のものを選びました。

From the flowers I made using the Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies, I chose ones that matched the color of my house.

Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies を使い作った花の中から、家の色に合わせた花を選びました。

For the paintbrush handle, I first blended a light brown color, then used a roller to apply dark brown ink. For the brush ferrule, I die-cut two pieces of silver paper, partially cut one of them, applied Staz On Saddle Brown ink, and then layered it on top of the other piece.　（ If you don't have a brayer, you can use a stamp with a flat surface or an eraser to dab the ink instead.)

ペイントブラシの持ち手は、先に薄い茶色をブレンディングしてから、次に濃い茶のインクをブレイヤーを使って転がしました。ブラシの口金は、シルバーのペーパーを２枚ダイカットして、１枚を部分的にカットしStaz On ink のSaddle Brownを塗り、もう一枚の上に重ねて貼りました。（ブレイヤーを持ってない場合は、平らな面の多いスタンプや、消しゴムなどでインクをタップすることで代用できます。）

For the sentiment, I chose “Wishing you brighter days” from the Whimsical Wishes Clear Stamp Set , stamped it onto black paper, and heat-set it with white embossing powder.

センチメントは Whimsical Wishes Clear Stamp Set の中から「Wishing you brighter days」を選びブラックペーパーにスタンプして、ホワイトエンボスパウダーを溶かしました。

I combined all the elements and arranged them on the background. I added the “Painted Blooms” grass die-cut as a highlight.

全てを組み合わせて背景の上に貼りました。Painted Blooms の草のダイカットをハイライトとして加えました。

Floral Trio Cards ☆ Alex Syberia Designs

Today, I’d like to show you a card I made using the stunning “Floral Trio Press Plate” and stencils designed by Alex Syberia. It’s a truly wonderful design featuring three beautifully arranged flowers.

I used a stencil for the background, cut out a square frame, and placed the frame inside the card. Additionally, for some of the cards, I applied metallic ink to the Floral Trio Press Plate and used the Better Press Letterpress system to press the flower outlines from both the top and bottom.

背景にステンシルを使い、四角いフレームのダイでカットし、フレーム部分をカードの中に入れました。さらにカードの中には Floral Trio Press Plate にメタリックインクをつけて花のアウトラインをBetter Press Letterpress system で上下にプレスしました。

Ever since I started making pop-up cards, I’ve wanted to include something fun inside the card, not just a message.

ポップアップカード作るようになってから、メッセージだけではなく、カードの中にも楽しみを入れたいと思うようになりました。

If you apply ink with “Better Press” and then use the “Floral Trio” stencil, the ink along the edges tends to bleed and turn black or fade. So, I wondered if there was a way to apply the stencil first and then apply the ink.

表紙のFloral trioはBetter Pressしてからステンシルすると、輪郭のインクがこすれて黒くなってきたり、薄くなってしまうので、先にステンシルをする方法はないかな？と考えてみました。

Step1

Use a punch to cut a circle out of the edge of the cardstock, then attach double side tape.

Attach the cardstock to the Platen Panel using masking tape.

カードストックの端に丸をパンチで抜き、両面テープを貼ります。

Platen Panel にカードストックをマスキングテープで貼ります。

まずは一度、薄いインクあるいは花に使いたい色の薄い色を選びそれをタップしてプレスします。

Step2

I applied a light gray ink and pressed it. You might also try applying a thin layer of black ink and then wiping it off. Alternatively, I think a light pink or blue—something that won’t turn black—would work well.

Leave the round punch and the Floral Trio Press Plate in place without moving them.

薄いグレーのインクをつけてPressしました。黒インクを薄くつけてから一旦ふき取るくらいでもいいかもしれません。あるいは薄いピンクやブルーなど黒くならないものがいいと思います。

丸いパンチとFloral Trio Press Plate は、動かさずそのままにしておきます。

Step3

Gently peel it off and apply the stencil.

そっとはがして、ステンシルをします。

Step4

Align the circle from the punch with the circle on the cardstock after stenciling, then apply black ink to the Floral Trio Press Plate and letterpress it.

パンチの丸の位置とステンシル後のカードストックの丸の位置を合わせて、Floral Trio Press Plate に黒インクをつけてLettr Press します。

It ended up a little off-center; maybe the stencil was misaligned. Cut along the outline, leaving a white border. Cut out the outline, leaving a white border, and attach it with foam tape.

少しだけずれしまいましたが、ステンシルがずれていたのかもしれません。

白い淵を残して輪郭をカットしフォームテープで貼ります。

Featuring the Whimsical Village Collection

This month, I’ll be sharing projects featuring Spellbinders’ new June release: the Whimsical Village Collection designed by Vicky Papaioannou. This is a fun collection full of whimsy, featuring houses, flowers, clouds, and more.

今月は、Spellbinders の6月新商品 Vicky Papaioannou さんDesign の Whimsical Village Collection にフィーチャーした作品をご紹介していきます。家や花、そして雲など、遊び心がいっぱいの楽しいコレクションです。

Since I wanted to color all the Whimsical Houses Etched Dies with ink, I gathered up scraps of paper I had previously made using Distress Stain Spray, die-cut them, and assembled them.

Whimsical Houses Etched Dies は、すべてインクで着色したいと思い、いままでDistress Stain Sprayで作ったペーパーの残りものをかき集めてダイカットして組み合わせました。

When I want to keep the debossed areas—such as the roof and doors—white, I die-cut them from white cardstock and roll a brayer over them to apply ink. I think one of the key features of Spellbinders dies is that they produce crisp debossing down to the finest details. If you don’t have a brayer, you can also color these areas by tapping ink with a flat stamp ( An eraser is fine too).

屋根やドアなどデボス部分を白く残したいときは、白のカードストックでダイカットして、ブレイヤーを転がしてインクをつけるようにしています。Spellbindersのダイは、この細かなディテールまでしっかりとデボスされているのが特徴だ思います。ブレイヤーをお持ちでない方は、平らなスタンプ(消しゴムでもOK）にインクをつけて着色することもできます。

Similarly, I die-cut the whimsical flowers using the Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies , assembled them, and added a few touches with a white pen.　Debossing looks distinctly white.

同様にWhimsical なフラワーも Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies でダイカットして組み立て、白ペンを少し加えました。デボスがくっきり白くみえます。

For the background, I used patterned paper with a grid design for the daytime scene and dark navy cardstock for the nighttime scene, both die-cut using the “Scallop Labels and Tags” die.　I ran both through the Whimsical Skies 3D embossing Folder and applied ink to the embossed areas.

背景は、昼と夜に分けて、昼は罫線のパターンペーパーを夜は、濃紺のカードストックをScallop Labels and Tags でダイカットしました。それらを Whimsical Skies 3D embossing Folder でマシーンに通して、エンボス部分にインクをつけました。

We use a simple bumper mechanism to make these pop up.

A “bumper” is a mechanism created by folding paper into an M or W shape, which allows the card to pop up high with ease. It’s a very convenient pop-up mechanism because it flattens back down with just a push when you put it in an envelope.

After placing the Whimsical Blooms Etched Dies in the background, attach the bumper to make the Houses pop up.

これらを簡単な仕掛けのバンパーを使ってPop-up させます。

バンパーとは、MまたはWの字に紙を蛇腹に折った仕掛けで、簡単に高くポップアップさせることができます。封筒に入れるときはプッシュするだけで平らになるのでとても便利なポップアップの仕掛けです。

背景にWhimsical な花を貼ってから、バンパーを取り付けて家をポップアップさせます。

I selected “no place like home” and “home is where your heart is” from the Whimsical Wishes Clear Stamp Set and heat-embossed them using white embossing powder.

Whimsical Wishes Clear Stamp Set　から“no place like home”　と“home is where your heart is” を選びホワイトエンボスパウダーでヒートエンボス加工しました。

I die-cut clouds, a moon, a sun, a dog, a cat, and other shapes from the Whimsical Village Companions Etched Dies set, colored them, and added them to the project.

Whimsical Village Companions Etched Dies から、雲、月、太陽、犬、猫などをダイカットして着色して加えました。
