Dancing Skelton with Classic Mouse Halloween Costume Party
Using the "Classic Mouse" character, I created a "Book Page" that features a unique mechanism: as the card is opened, the mouse pops up and performs a little dance. For this project, I incorporated elements from the "Halloween Costume Party" set, the "Skeleton" dies from "Craftoween" (Day 7), and various pieces from the "Hero Arts Heroween" collection—specifically the tree (Day 5), the fence (Day 6), and the gravestones and grass (Day 9). This page is intended to be part of a larger pop-up book, joining other pages I have previously created.

Create three bases for the pop-up mechanism, each positioned 3/4 of an inch from the main base. For each of the three 2" x 3" pieces of cardstock, score lines at 0.5 inches and 3/4 of an inch from the edge.
Fold it diagonally along the cut line, as shown in the photo.
Open them up as shown in the photo and push them toward the back.
Apply the mechanism to the shaded area.
Draw the key part of the gimmick as shown in the photograph.
Starting from the center of a 2 cm circle, draw a 1.5 cm line downward; use this as the height to draw a 1.5 cm horizontal line, then connect the ends to form a right-angled triangle.
From the point where the circle and the triangle intersect, draw a line perpendicular to the base of the triangle.
You can create two such pieces using the base of the same triangle.

Attach them to the triangular, shaded sections. It is best to leave a small gap from the center line; otherwise, the piece will not fold correctly.
When the mechanism is folded, it points diagonally to the left; when expanded, it points diagonally to the right.
When the pop-up is in a vertical position, the arrow points upward. Marking it this way ensures you won’t be confused about the orientation when attaching elements.
The distance from the center of the circle for each mechanism is 3 cm.
As shown on the right in the photo below, the mechanism moves in a 90-degree (quarter-circle) arc; therefore, the background must be cut out to match this shape.
For the background and the background of the pop-up element, I used the "Skeleton" die from Craftoween Day 6, along with several dies from the Hero Arts "Heroween" — the tree from Day 5, the fence from Day 7, and the gravestones and grass from Day 9—to create this design.

Next, create the cutout that will serve as the background for the pop-up. Since the positions of the mice are symmetrical, the orientation of the mechanisms and holes will be reversed.
Fold the circle in half and pass it through the cut-out hole from underneath.
Attach the top surface of the mechanism to the back of the pop-up background.
Take one of the three base pieces you initially created—the one without any cuts—and trim its adhesive section in half; then, fold the sides inward and attach it to the center of both the pop-up background and the card base background.
Attach the pop-up background—which has a mechanism built into it—to the main background. Hold the edge and move it from side to side to ensure that the circle rotates, tracing a semicircle.
Attach the mouse's head and body to the circle. Use adhesive foam to mount the head so that it sits slightly raised. When doing this, ensure the arrow (↑) on the circle is pointing upward; this indicates the correct orientation.
